Professional experience

Mr. Margáin carried out professional internships from June to December 1977, at the firm of Thompson & Knight lawyers, in Dallas, Texas, later being Of Counsel of the Monterrey office of this firm (2003-2009).

He worked as a lawyer in the international legal area of Grupo Visa (now Femsa) (1977-1980). Later, he worked at Grupo Protexa, where he was Legal Manager International (1980-1983) and Corporate Legal Director (1983-1991).

He was Senator of the Republic, president of the Foreign Relations Commission (2000- 2006), presiding over the delegations of the Mexican Congress before the Parliament of the Union

European Union, the Council of Europe and the World Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). He was elected and served as a member of the Commission on Human Rights of Parliamentarians (2004- 2006), in Geneva, Switzerland.

Mayor of San Pedro Garza García, NL, for two terms (1994-1997 and 2006-2009).

He is an active member of various charitable, educational, social and civic associations, presiding over some of them. He has received multiple distinctions, standing out, the Decoration of the «Order of the Legion of Honor, in the rank of Officer», by the Government of

France; the "Award of Merit, in the grade of Grand Officer", by the Government of Chile; and the «NAFTA Congressional Leadership Award (2002)», by the Mexican Chamber of Commerce- United States.
